Supplier Spotlight: Boston & Co

Based in Bury St Edmunds, Boston & Co is an independent, fully licensed mobile bar operator in and around Suffolk, Essex, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. Their gorgeous Rustic and Scandi-style bars are ideal for tipi weddings, barn weddings, stately homes and events.

Why did you set up your business?

I was at an age when I was attending a lot of weddings as a guest, and I found the majority had a reasonably poor bar selection. At that time, I was a part-owner of a company with a restaurant, bar and nightclub with around a decade of bar/drinks-making experience. It was an obvious step to start a bar events business, to transfer what you find in a high street bar at weddings and other events.

What and who inspires you to do what you do?

I love making drinks and teaching others. There are so many influential people in the drinks industry which is continuously changing and forever inspires.

What makes you different from other mobile bars around?

We have never tried to be the cheapest and therefore, don’t cut corners. You get the best on the most important day of your life.

What is the most popular cocktail you get asked to make, and how do you make it?

Espresso Martini – Vodka, Coffee Liqueur, Espresso, Pinch of Salt (Optional). & Vanilla Syrup (Optional).

What recommendations would you give to couples wanting something a bit different for their wedding?

A unique drinks hour – Could be a specific gin bar or rum bar with different mixers and garnishes, which adds a bit of interaction between the guests and the bar staff.

Where do you see yourself in three years’ time?

More bars, more drinks…

Where is the strangest location you have had to go with your bar?

We have seen some sights at Hen parties. I can’t reveal any more.

Why should couples use your bar company?

Not only quality bar service on the day but support via the phone and email, seven days a week in the run-up, with full flexibility for their exact needs.

If you don’t have an event on over the weekend, what do you enjoy doing?

Spending time with my partner at the coast with our fur baby.

If you could take your business anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

British Virgin Isles (Caribbean) – Because I love making a rum punch, sunshine, BBQ’s and reggae.
